Privacy policy

This policy covers adamgillman.com, the newsletter The Consumer Engine, the Engine Check, the kits, the Operator Membership and the Builder's Room. They're run by AG Advisory ("we", "us"). If you have a question about your data, email adam@adamgillman.com.

What we collect

• Your email address, when you sign up for the newsletter, download something or buy something.
• Your answers to the short survey after you sign up, and any offer you tell us you're interested in.
• The numbers you put into the Engine Check, such as revenue, margins and cash. We use them to score your business and write your read.
• Payment details, when you buy. Stripe handles your card. We never see or store the full card number.
• How you use the site: pages visited, buttons clicked, the link that brought you here and rough location from your IP address. This comes from analytics cookies.

How we use it

• To send the newsletter and the emails you signed up for. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
• To deliver what you bought, and to run your membership.
• To write your Engine Check read. Your numbers are sent to an AI model (OpenAI, through Vercel's AI Gateway) to draft it. We don't let them train on it.
• To understand which pages work, so we can make the site better.
• To answer you when you write to us.

We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers.

Who helps us run this

We use a few companies to run the site. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job:

• beehiiv sends the newsletter and emails.
• Stripe takes payments and runs billing.
• Skool hosts the members' community.
• Vercel hosts the site.
• PostHog provides analytics.
• OpenAI, through Vercel's AI Gateway, drafts Engine Check reads.

Some of these companies store data in the United States.

How long we keep it

We keep your email and survey answers until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We keep payment records as long as tax law requires.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from any email with the link at the bottom.
• Ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by emailing adam@adamgillman.com. We'll reply within 30 days.
• Block or clear cookies in your browser. The site still works without them.

Children

This site is for business owners. It isn't meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If it's a big change, we'll email subscribers.
